GUSD and GRTA Reach Agreement

Joint announcement of mutual agreement in 2019-2020 negotiations

The Gustine Romero Teachers association and the Gustine Unified School District are pleased to announce they have reached a tentative agreement in our labor negotiations for school year 2019-2020. The parties, in just the second meeting, inked a mutually agreeable settlement to be effective July 1, 2019.

This agreement represents a good faith process and a commitment to the families and students of Gustine. The parties have agreed to a three percent (3%) salary increase.  The parties also agreed to address concerns with student academic performance by creating a new after school support program, the “Essential Standards Intervention Academies,” to provide intensive extra instruction for Gustine students.  This program is intended to benefit students struggling to achieve proficiency by providing opportunities for intervention outside of the school day.

The salary increase is designed to attract and retain educators. The raise will be “weighted” with the monies distributed across the salary schedule to retain experienced teachers. The District and the Teacher’s union shared a commitment to increasing student achievement by employing qualified and certificated educators for Gustine Unified students.
