Student Devices

Computer

As part of our commitment to providing students with the technology they need to be successful, Gustine Unified School District issues Chromebooks and other instructional devices for student use both at school (TK-12) and at home (6-12). These devices are valuable educational tools, and we ask for your partnership in helping students care for them.

Students are expected to handle all school-issued devices responsibly and use them in accordance with district policies in school and at home. While we understand that normal wear and tear occurs through regular use, any damage that goes beyond normal wear and tear will be the financial responsibility of the student and/or parent/guardian. Device Insurance will not be offered this year.

Examples of damage that may result in repair or replacement charges include, but are not limited to:

  • Cracked or broken screens

  • Liquid damage

  • Missing or damaged keys

  • Broken hinges or cases

  • Lost or damaged chargers

  • Intentional damage, vandalism, or negligence

  • Lost or stolen devices that were not appropriately secured

Charges will be based on the actual cost of repairing or replacing the damaged parts. Families will be notified if damage is identified and informed of any applicable charges.

Sample costs families may be charged for fixing devices damaged beyond normal wear and tear:
Part                                      Estimated Cost of Repair

Base or cover………………………..............$35
Palmrest or keyboard……………..............$50

We encourage students to:

  • Transport their device carefully using a protective case or backpack.

  • Keep food and drinks away from the device.

  • Avoid placing heavy objects on top of the device.

  • Charge the device using the district-issued charger only.

  • Report any accidental damage or technical issues to school staff immediately.

By working together, we can help ensure that these devices remain in good condition for all students.

Thank you for your support and partnership in helping us care for these important instructional resources.
